Tow hook cover question

I lost my rear tow hook cover sometime over the last day or so. Anyway, I went to the dealer and they indicated that they could order one, but it would have to be painted.

I looked online hoping I could order a pre-painted one. Most of the sites seem to differentiate between the base model and the AMG/sport package. Are the rear tow hook covers different?

Any ideas of where I can get a pre-painted one? I have a black MY2010 s550 4matic with the AMG/sport package.

Thanks.

There are several options for your vehicle for bumpers. If you don't know which option you have, you can PM me your VIN, I'll decode it and check availability for you.

According to EPC, this is untrue. Unless they no longer stock painted ones or something, there is a part # listed with a color code for the tow hook.

For my non-sport 2007 S550, I looked it up and it gave me part #:
A221 885 11 23 9997

As you can see, that's a regular MB part number (the first 10 digits) with a 4 digit color code on the end. The part # is for Obsidian Black (9997)

There is also a note saying if there is no color number listed in EPC, to order "9999" and it will come unpainted.

I suspect your dealer keeps some 9999's on hand and paints them because usually if a bumper is damaged that's when they replace the tow hook .. and they need to paint the whole bumper anyway.

I'd get the exact part # and call the dealer with that part and see if they can order it. Might take a few days but likely the price will be something like $20 higher (than the 9999) and it will come painted!

I ordered one from the dealership, brought it to my local paint shop and $20 later it was done, nice and easy.
