Just picked up 2010 S550
It has 41k miles, recent service, but I am curious if the 40k service was a major one.. .if so, i may want to make it was done via a dealer inspection. Any thoughts? I am new to MB and this forum, so i apologize for any ill-advised errors in posting here...

Welcome! We don't bite. I also bought my 2010 with around 40k miles last year and it just needed a "B" service at 50k, which is the bigger service, so 40k should have been an "A". Any MB dealer can pull up the complete internal service history by VIN so I'd get that, and I'd highly recommend a warranty if you didn't get one a purchase. Post some pics!

thanks for the info. I will post pics shortly. i am having a few cosmetic issues addressed (minor)... and then take possession Friday. Pretty damn excited. My current vehicle is a supercharged jag xf, so i am looking forward to the change!

The major service item the should have been performed at this mileage involves servicing the transmission which includes fluid replacement. Brake fluid should be replaced every two years. "A" service is an oil change and inspection. "B" service is the same as "A" with the addition of replacing the interior cabin filter. Replacement of the cabin filter is not really necessary unless you have odors in your vehicle or poor air flow.
