Angry Help 2010 W221 Keyless Go remote lost

Hi All, I lost my key remote and contacted the dealer for a replacement.
I can't believe the cost for a replacement... ($516.61) Does anyone know of a more cost efficient route to take for a replacement. Thank you for taking the time to review this post

Call another dealer... those keys are ~$300

I think I paid $300 taxes included at MB Buffalo.

Any MB dealer can order that key for you. There are only 2 prices for SmartKeys -- with Keyless GO and without Keyless GO.

You can call up parts departments and ask for a Keyless GO key price and they should know without having to look it up. Each model is slightly different in price (C class with KG may be $10 difference in price from an S Class with KG) but they should be very close.

Just call and ask for a ballpark price. When you find the cheapest dealer, call back and give them your VIN and ask for the actual price.

Note that due to theft policies, they'll want to see (and photocopy) your ID and vehicle title when they order the key and AGAIN when you pick it up. That is the basic MB rule for ordering replacement keys and they won't deviate from it.

Some have the additional requirement of needing to see the physical car itself too. So ask about that from the dealer you select.. just to make sure you don't waste a trip by driving another car there. Just to be safe, I'd drive your S Class to order and pick up the key, in case they magically impose that rule even though they didn't mention in on the phone.

If that was your only key, then you need to find a dealer that will sell you the key without seeing the car. Because otherwise you'll have to tow the car there to order the key! (towing is only one way.. you can drive it back once the key arrives)

I agree, $500 is way too much:

Good luck,
