Free Mercedes Electronic Parts Catalogue

I haven't used this in awhile but it's a great resource. The online EPC will decode your car's VIN and then give you access to part numbers and locations for your exact car.

You do need to create an account and "buy" a year's subscription by using your CC info but it's totally free:

https://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/home.jsp

Sign up and then log in, click the link to launch the EPC (it opens in its own window). You may need to install the Java Runtime Environment if your PC doesn't already have it:

http://download.cnet.com/Java-Runtim...-10009607.html

Put your VIN in the top field. (Use the drop down to select WDD as the prefix and then enter the rest of your VIN. Here I'm using it today to hunt down the location of the rear tweeters.)

Clicking on a part in the exploded diagrams brings up the part number and any ordering notes in the box on the left.

It's a great tool for finding part numbers when you're adding AMG bits to your non-AMG car. Just copy a VIN from the same year S63 or S65 from a car on AutoTrader etc and you can pull the specific AMG part numbers for your project.

I converted a non AMG S430 to a full AMG body kit using that method, and I was able to identify all of the parts the two cars had in common and just pin down the stuff I actually needed.

This is the identical resource the MB parts department uses. It always flips the parts guys out a bit when they're hunting for a part and you ask them to spin their monitor toward you so you can tell them where to look. Or when you give them the exact part number you're looking for.

Enjoy!

Also worth mentioning that it only runs on Windows.

Um, yeah. Additionally, don't try to use it if you're on fire. Put the fire out first and then use the EPC. That's something else that probably also goes without saying, but, you know, just in case. To sum up:

US residents only.
Requires Windows OS and Java Runtime
If on fire, extinguish self before using EPC.

Just used this bad boy to track down a part # for a set of wheels another member liked on an S63 for sale but couldn't identify visually. Ran the VIN through EPC and had a part # in about thirty seconds.
