2007 S500 Drivers Seat

Hi Guys,

New to the forum, new to Mercedes, new to S class, so please be gentle...

I have just purchased a 2007 S500 which has active seats, but I have found that the drivers massage function does not work. You select one of the 4 options, but nothing happens and the options screen returns to 0 after a short while.
The passenger seat works just fine although the right side bolsters dont inflate during cornering.

The screen in the drivers seat doesnt seem to show a picture, just grey snow. Could the two problems in the drivers seat be linked?

Regards to all, Jamie.

2007 CL550
This is caused by a leak within the seat air bladder in one or both of the front seats. Unfortunately, this can be a very expensive repair. I had both of the air bladders fail in my 2007 CL550. The bladder could be replaced in the driver seat. The passenger seat required replacement of the seat cushion. The total cost of the repair was almost $6000 which was paid for by my third party extended warranty which was within one month of expiration. Based on my experience, it appears that the life of the air bladders is about seven years.

If the leak is only in one of the seats, the air supply to that seat can be capped which would then allow the other seat to operate.

Thanks for that Steve,
Just for further information, all of the airbags in the drivers seat function normally when adjusted for your comfort from the command screen, and they all remain inflated also.
Is the massage function carried out by a seperate air bag system or pump? I dont know how the system works.
