Ventilated Seats

Round Number one, 3 weeks after the purchase of my 2009 S550 and I have my first battle:

Ventilated Seats:

The fan is running, but I feel nothing coming out of the ventilated seats, all the lights are blue, you can choose up or down the setting but no air flow coming out?

This is happening to both seats. Last two weeks you could feel the cool air flow.

All the seat movements and adjustments are working. Any ideas?

The flow is inward, from the front of the seat towards the back. You may feel some air moving at the vents on the rear of the seat backs. If you hear fans running, it's working. It's a subtle effect, unless your back is sweaty in which case it'll feel more intense.

Thank you, is weird because last week I could feel the cool air, not full blast but a nice steady little air flow.

I read a lot of threads and it appears that there's some type of debate if cool air actually comes out or not.

It sort of comes through rather than coming out.

It's not something that you will feel a great amount no matter how it is used. Mercedes has even mentioned that it is good if it is a rainy/humid day to turn the heat and ventilation on for a good drying effect.

It's interesting, but I test drove a new Ford F-150 for a few days. It also had this feature although it was advertised as being "A/C" instead of "ventilated." The effect was much more pronounced in the F-150 than the Mercedes models I own with it (W211 E320 CDI and W221 S600). It felt like there was cool air being piped through the air conditioning and through to the seats.

I have never been able to really feel much just touching the seat but I can feel it sitting on it. I would say there is a very good chance the car is functioning normally.

If I had to make a small (very small) list of things I don't like about my S350 this would be at the top. I honestly can't feel anything when seat cooling is on but I do hear the fan whirring away in there somewhere.

On the other hand on my Lexus IS350 when the fan is set to high it can actually be quite startling to the uninitiated. Quite fun though on unsuspecting passengers…

I also find the heat weak on the S whereas on my '08 E320 the seats would cook your butt like a flame broiled Whopper if you weren't careful. You would get out of the car with grill marks on your pants.
