So I just bought an 07 s600 with distronic and like everyone else, am doing the facelift. I've purchased the panels and the tails, I'm keeping the headlights. But I've been informed that I need to purchase the newer grill that will accommodate the distronic radar? Is this the plate on the grill itself or a sensor of sorts behind the grill? It is my understanding that I need a 10-13 grill to go with the front bumper. I was doing some browsing on the popular online auction site and it seems that there are options but I want to make sure I'm going the right route.
Can anyone add some insight as to a for sure place other than a dealer to find this grill. What have you guys done in this similar situation?

Thanks! From what I gathered today, the unit that shoots the beam is mounted behind the grill. Some vendors will offer a distronic plate for say, the 3 star grille. I ended up just buying a 10-13 grille that was labeled as distronic compatible. So I guess we will see. Max I'm curious for your feedback next week. Thanks for replying

All cars with Distronic have the plate in the center of the grill, or in the case of the "Sport" grill, the Star is not hollow - the area between each point is covered with a plastic type material.
Do you have parking assist? They have radars in the front bumper that you may need to deal with.
