TPMS!! NEED QUICK REPLIES

I have to replace my tires. I have the new Michelin A/S 3 on order. All Season 45,000 mile tire. Too bad I missed the michelin employee sale on the PS2, i could of had a set of four for $600. Now im paying over double that. F****

Anyway my question.... One of my tire pressure monitors are broken nad I need to order a new one. I just want to know if any of you experience enthusiasts know what I shuold do.

Just replace the one? replace all four all the way around with the new set of tires?

What brand TPMS? what should the cost be? .. I got a quote from the dealer for $280+ dollars fo just one.

the tire shop i ordered the tires said they have the OEM for $120 and an aftermarket that can be programmed to work for $60. I dont know what I should do to keep the integrity of the system.

HELP ... SUGGESTIONS????

MB recommends replacing if over 5 years old, battery is not replaceable sensor must be replaced. The only way to definitively check remaining battery life is for dealer or independent to check it with DAS but since you will have access you can check the production date stamped on sensor (day/month/year). OEM part # is 0025407917 (Siemens), aftermarket should be fine - 315 MHZ.

Tire shop can only order ... "DILL" not the Siemens. Why in the hell am I searching online and I see these tire pressure monitors for 60-80 a piece then call a car shop or the dealer and they want to charge me $250+. that's no labor or anything. I don't get it. Are they really out to rip you off like that??

Ordered online and shipped straight to the tire shop. Hope is a legit OE replacement and not a knockoff!

I question replacing after5 years. Mine are 7.5 years old and still work properly. The reported tire pressures do match my hand held digital pressure gauge exactly. I don't believe the sensors contain a conventional battery. They most likely contain a capacitor which gets charged by wheel motion and can then hold its charge for only a few minutes after the wheels stop spinning. This is why no information is available until you have driven for a couple of minutes.

Interesting. I thought it was funny that they would contain a battery anyway. That makes them "disposable".

I did not say battery will not last longer than 5 years but rather MB "recommends" replacement @ 5 years - your call.
