2012 WALD S-CLASS (BUILD THREAD)

Hey all,

I'm a new member on this forum.

Here's what I am currently driving.

It's a 2012 s350 Bluetec Diesel. Frick'in torque machine.

Anyhoo, here are some pics from last year.
-Satin white wrap, 21-inch Asanti wheels, Wald body kit (minus side fenders)

The last pic is how it sits as of two days ago.
Got the wrap removed (was a pain in the *** and a horror story to say the least... waste of money) and got the kit repainted in its factory color.

I am slowly working on getting the chrome blacked out (using plastidip since I can take it off anytime I want) and am contemplating on A) either getting the wheels powdercoated a gloss black or B) getting the wheels powdercoated a different color. Any opinions/suggestions?

I'm tired of the satin finish and it gets dirty really quick and the wheels have lost their sheen since I first got them.

Also am kind of regretting getting 21-inch wheels and feel that I should have gone 22s now

By the way, where can I find a rear towhook cover that will fit the rear bumper for the WALD Black Bison bumper? I don't have one yet! and it's annoying!

Looks excellent! I prefer the silver over the wrap also.

Same color as mine!

Thanks Grizz. Yeah I do as well. I just need to do something about those wheels.

Have any pics of yours? Palladium silver is such a nice color. Underestimated in my opinion.

Very nice.

So what's the problem with the wrap?

And aren't Wald fenders wider than OE (or are they)? Did it cause problems fitting the front bumper without the Wald fenders?

Looks brilliant. Love that Wald front bumper. The problem for me with Wald bodykit is the rear bumper. AMG rear bumper looks much better IMO.

I'm also blacking out all the chrome at the moment.

Looks good brotha! Don't do 22s. 21s are good, but some custom 20s would kill it

Well... the place I got the wrap from (a place in Los Angeles... don't want to throw them under the bus) pretty much did a ****ty job. I mean it literally looked like a high school arts and crafts project and it was really ****ty when you looked at the details. There were uneven cuts everywhere from the razor they were using, some of the vinyl was peeling off, and the biggest thing that pissed me off is that as soon as you open the door, these guys drilled actual holes into the side of the car where the side kirts fit (where there is supposed to be a Mercedes Benz illuminated footplate thing) and there is nothing but some industrial glue and holes. It pisses me off everytime I look at it.

The people who I got the kit painted from were scared to take the actual skirts off because they "hadn't seen anything like that in 20 years of doing business and working on cars". Yeah. It was really ****ty. But it's whatever anyway cause the door remains when closed driving so it doesn't bother me much anymore.

And IDK about the WALD fenders (i'm assuming you are talking about the side fenders?). I did not get those installed cause I simply didn't like their look. I thought the front, rear, and side skirts were enough.

Yeah but at the time when my brother was getting the car wrapped the order for WALD kit was in place.

What are u using to black out the chrome?

But my current 21s are fading. They started out as satin black and now after a nice thorough wash they are more of a dark gray. It pisses me off Lol.

Any thoughts as to powdercoating the wheels a different color? Was thinking like a gloss black. Any suggestions?

I would strip the old color off, and have someone do a brushed gunmetal

Thought about using plastidip at first but decided to get all parts painted in gloss black. Painting is obviously more expensive but will look much better.
