2007 s550 no Aux
For those of you that have a s550 with no Aux in comand:
- Dashboard disassembly: 15 minutes
- Wiring hookup: 5 minutes
- Program interface that turned on Aux and another video Aux 20 minutes-- Aux works separately of Apple Car Play or Android Auto -
- Add Android Auto 5 minutes
- add12v switched to power bluetooth and power Android.
5 years on this forum and one person sent directions on how to turn on Aux, thx, but did not have a Star Machine..The foundation of getting, mp3, pandora, spotify, whatever to play!

MBWorld Fanatic!
this later interface does bring back night vision support to the pre 2008 rear camera (RFK) that goes walkabout if you fit the original ipod interface, although it lags a fraction longer switching the comand screen over (a few miliseconds)
it goes as loud as every other source
and today I tried the Tune2Air WMA1000 again, (only tried to look after the engine was running) using the ipod 2 interface, and it behaves with my iPhone 6S running iOS 13.4.1 and viseeo firmware v325 no error messages this time, cluster didn't play ball until "mobile data for music" was enabled
and something I hadn't seen confirmed by anybody.... the cluster and steering wheel all do the same as if its wired in so menu navigation and whats palying all turn uo on the car (but as expected not on the comand or COU)
this was via BT....
FYI viseeo tune2air firmware is an experience to update needs a code from china and a win 7 PC
WMA1000 V322 Fixed Kenwood player but need an adapter to convert the data
WMA1000 V323 solves no sound issue in Audi Dension Gateway 500 with Android phones.
WMA1000 V325 solves "can't play YouTube" issue.

no aux in comand
2007 w221
Bought the ******* Kit. After watching the videos on Youtube for a couple of years.. I was skeptical.
However IF you do not have aux in comand and the dealer tells you they can not do it..the ******* Kit will turn it on plus another video input.
Then download the software.
Apple requires less wires and devices
Android needs the mirroring device.

Its called N a v t o o l. It turns on aux in comand which is the most important step. You change out wires add a the interface. Prog the interface and you have aux in for music. You can then add a Bluetooth receiver to aux input or rca input. It has a version of car play and you could add chromecast to mirror android. I installed it my 221 after spending 4 years trying to get answers on how to turn on aux here.

I discovered that I can stream internet Radio from the iPhone via Bluetooth
iPod interface 2, viseeo tune2air, apple 6S on iOS 13.41 - not bad for local radio station 6000 miles away without a wire

Hi @BOTUS , If I remeber well then you used to use ipod in-line amplifier designed for C class on W221 pre-facelift and you get error with it. I don't know why it can make error when used for W221 because for me the interface or protocol toward ipod is the same regardless iod using for W204 or W221. do you know why it get error?
I'm using ipod for W221 pre-facelift and my feeling that audio volume output is quite low compare to CD or MP3 therefore sound quality is not very nice. I planned either to purchase ipod in-line amplifier or I break out ipod interface cable and I buy a cicuirt as below to boot the line-out from ipod before send it to the command for futher amplifier. Please advice, what the best option.

I think the signal hits the 221 using a digital signal.... so you can't amplify
both ipod inline amps are for different models using an analogue signal...
the 221 is an odd beast and little aftermarket kit is available... the interface 2 goes LOUD but its NOT just the box its another loom again (and all much more rare)... and it makes the early aluminum rear camera do night vision again !!!!

No, I'm sure that line-out L&R (pin 37$ of the apple 30 pin interface) from ipod is a analoge, the line-out signal is similar to 3.5' ear phone interface, the only diference is that line-out just using DAC of the ipod (for ipod classic Gen4 or Gen5 using DAC chipset from Wolfson) and not using build in amplifier then signal is not strong as 3.5' interface and since you are not using build in amplifier therefore volume adjustment on the ipod interface is useless and not applicable, advantage of the line-out is avoid double amp (amp of the ipod then amp of the car audio) then it better sound quality but on pre-face lift perhaps command and amplifier was not design for such low signal from ipod line-out interface then we might need to pre-amp it before hit to the 221 for better sound quality.

there is nothing wrong with the sound quality on mine.... it was just not as loud. I wound up the source of really quiet tracks using some PC app to play with stuff... there's also a levelling feature within the iPod that makes it all a bit quieter and also a European sound limit that's quieter than USA allow. You can turn either on or off
I would not put MP3 on the iPod, its utter trash. I use .WAV files, as its more compatible with more devices (its a well hidden choice within iTunes)

I'm successfull to boot sound volume when usining ipod interface. The problem is due to when you use ipod interface on 30 pin connecter they are audio line-out, meaning that audio just pass through DAC chipset of the ipod but it not go via ipod amplifier, it have very high quality but the gain is not strong compare to audio 3.5' on the ipod because it's not pass though a amplifier build in on ipod.
If you open black plastic cover of ipod interface cable then you will realize it has 03 cores: one core with black and white is for 12v Fire Wire, another core has 03 wire: purple, greey and brown for audio (brown is audio ground) then I just cut these cables and connect them to 3.5' audio connector and then connect to ipod 3.5' then I got the sound volume similar to CD or Radio.

Newbie
I got my OEM ipod module 1 installed and coded last week, using it with a BOVEE 1000 that I got for my range rover , works perfectly and the volume is loud enough with no modification (which I believe was a feature of the bovee to deal with similar volume issues on other cars)

I seem to have more clunks and oddness with the interface 2.
but vol is correct and rear camera works at night, there at least 4 extra wires in the later loom, if you have the plastic camera (as fitted on later years and on many 20011 era mercs) the later loom I can imagine might damage something those wires do something tot he camera

by default Aux doesn't display and there are no sockets or wires to attach anything
if Aux has been enabled in software and nothing else added, it will display as a choice but nothing would happen
the ipod kit has limitations and is only designed to work with apple stuff.... it not just a box but a massive wiring loom that gives strange steering wheel control of an ipod, with artist and track info visible in the centre of the speedo display.
A cheap idea to get noise via cheap basic audio input can be done but everything must be controlled from the device
if you want to understand, read the five pages here in this thread... it covers virtually everything there is to know

I have the Bovee 1000 module in my CL63 and really like it. Huge thanks to everyone who shared info here 🙂 I just replaced the 30 pin connector going from the glove box to the iPod control module and made a video about it here:
Looks like the cable itself (B-6-7-82-4531) might be NLA - but it was easy to replace

that's not the original plug on the lead in your video (I think the old cable was attacked to achieve a voltage change), I forget which way round, but the original WHITE socket on the end of the original lead is supposed to only do one voltage, the later cable with a BLACK plug should do both 5v and 12v
Between early iPods and the latest phones there's a difference, I've used BOTH cables and never got the other voltage to work so I don't think its the cable really. I now have the later box an "iPod interface 2" which perversely has a stupid bit (that you can cut off) that means neither old style (Black or White) RJ45 cable fits. And comes with its own white plug on the end of the RJ45 lead???
Its exceptionally rare, it comes with a totally different main loom with more wires, but still no comand knob control or screen visuals. But goes louder, it supports the night vision on the rear camera so that works again (for cars that had the very expensive £1000 aluminum camera, later cars running the cheaper and better $400 black plastic cameras don't care they just work correctly anyway). But the interface also has less intuitive, but more menu choices. I keep getting stuck thinking its broken and unresponsive, but its another level of confusion waiting for the correct user input. Which is hard to do with the ridiculous controls on the steering wheel buttons whilst driving...

Hi @BOTUS . I just bought a 2007 S65. I had the dealer enable Aux in preparation for this ipod module install, but the Aux function still doesn't show up on my COMAND system. Should I expect it to show now that they've enabled it or does it need the ipod kit installed before the option will show on my screen?
you can enable before fitting anything, it will display, you can select and of course nothing happens as no sound is coming down an unconnected wire
my car is a UK spec car and thats where I am... the first kit worked and only rarely threw its teddies but with two bugs
1) night vision on old aluminium $900 silly money rear camera stops working - but its only half what you need even when it does
I've had the e class $200 plastic one and its night vision is good (its the very same camera - except you MUST re-pin two of the wires to match - and the plastic mount is only suitable for the e class so you have to modify the original - but you save $200 over the 400 official later spec black plastic S class camera - I've not tried to blow up the plastic camera up when the later iPod kit winds it up when its at night - so not sure what would happen?
2) the vol is very low and really irritating on the original iPod kit - the other models in line vol boosting AMPs both do NOTHING on the w221 - it seems the 221 makes use of the digital connection from the iPod and all the others use analogue signals
the second later kit is random city - it ONLY comes to life with the engine running (but even viseeo with their WMA100 doesn't seem to know that's a feature of the car with the later kit) see posts from Polar Bear where he agrees on that point - but even then its 50 50 if it bothers to work - if you disconnect and reconnect the iPod it always comes to life so it might be voltage silliness.
vol is JUST as loud as any other source and is some 30% louder than earlier kit
it has a separate 2 pin molex connector on the much bulkier loom, near the back of the comand unit - it MIGHT be either voltage for diff devices 5v or 12v OR to power it up more reliably ??? - mine is connected to nothing as I don't know if its power in or power out !!!
if you really read everything - you would find a post where he had issues and dealership insisted the canbus errors on early device was the driver and they fitted the iPod 2 (at his cost - another 1k US$ down the pan)
Europe and USA use different video signals but the cameras on all Mercs are all NTSC so not sure if the "wrong number mk1" is really an issue - it was 7 years before I found out the later kit part number
I never tracked down the one listed in the early posts of this thread
Never got an iPhone to connected to either kit using either loom even via the Viseeo but I never tried that hard - it just always did nothing
.
