there is pretty much no way it can't display AUX - if they really turned it on - it will be on
you can enable before fitting anything, it will display, you can select and of course nothing happens as no sound is coming down an unconnected wire .
Thanks. Apparently I'm not the brightest as a new MB owner and couldn't find the Aux function. I went to the local shop and they showed me where it was.

Can't tell if you're serious or not? These should not be related.
For those of you that have a s550 with no Aux in comand:
- Dashboard disassembly: 15 minutes
- Wiring hookup: 5 minutes
- Program interface that turned on Aux and another video Aux 20 minutes-- Aux works separately of Apple Car Play or Android Auto -
- Add Android Auto 5 minutes
- add12v switched to power bluetooth and power Android.
5 years on this forum and one person sent directions on how to turn on Aux, thx, but did not have a Star Machine..The foundation of getting, mp3, pandora, spotify, whatever to play!
404marc...I have a S550 with no Aux in the Comand menu and nothing in the glove box. Like you, I have read through this and many other threads looking for instructions on how to turn on Aux.
Can you clarify how you "Program interface that turned on Aux and another video Aux"? What did you use to program the interface to turn on Aux?
the action required is simple - the easiest way is to got a a dealership and ask they enable - they use dealer diagnostic tools to get at the car via the obd2 port - its 10 minutes work to get to the right menu tick a box and say go.... they ought to do it for $50 or find a local garage with a copy of the tool and pay $30

BOTUS - Thanks for all the research/dialog/trial and error you've done on the ipod interface going back many years. It exhausted me just reading it! Not sure I would have endured what you went through for that long...
FWIW, I put a bluetooth Apple Carplay unit in my '11 E63 last year and it works seamless/transformed the nav, phone & music options/brings the car current from an audio tech perspective. I had to enable AUX in the engineering menu and rewire the AUX into the main audio connector to get it to work and it was pretty easy to install overall.
The '07 S550 looks just as easy...the only challenge has been enabling AUX. I know I'm going to have to pay to get it done...I just can't find anyone that knows how to activate it in STAR. So far, I've tried two independent MB shops and neither knew how to do it. One said if I had directions or screenshots they could follow, they would be able to do it because they have all the same diagnostic tools as the dealer. The guy was being honest and didn't want me to have to pay for his time hunting around trying to figure it out. I've got a few other independent "German" specialist shops left to try before I head over to the dealer.
well they are idiots then - its simple as.... go to comand tick a box - mine was done for free
if you go the route of modern stuff I don't think you use Aux.. you just long press a button to flip into the new world
10 Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS
11 Perform retrofit variant coding Perform variant coding with Star Diagnosis to activate the AUX function of the COMAND.
12 Close STAR DIAGNOSIS
13 Carry out function check Check iPod functions as per iPod operating instructions in vehicle.
Sorry to bump an old thread, but does anyone know of a good source for the B6 782 4531 cable or equivalent? Mine is frayed and I've searched everywhere with no luck.

I have one and I've been holding on to it just in case to use it if I can't find a good Android car play System. Do we know what the best car play system is available out there as of today? I could go install it and if all works well just sell you my cable.
That's good news! I'm in no rush, but I'm ready when you are. PM me so we can work out payment once you've got your new Android system installed and well tested. And don't forget to post pics for us all here!
@sapidus I'd be surprised if that pin mapping is the same as Mercedes'.
There's no standard for this so they could have connected all the pins differently.

Great point, I hadn't thought of that. Are these iPod cables repairable, e.g., perhaps just loose connections on the 30-pin end? Or do I need to scour ebay for the next few months?
