clunks and rattles
07 s600, fairly substantial clunk from rear under moderate acceleration. Almost feels as if rear of car lifts up during clunk event, then drops down when accelerator is released.
Second issue, a rattling/knocking noise on deceleration. Sounds rhythmic, but not associated with wheel speed. Only occurs on closed throttle deceleration after acceleration. Perhaps some type of turbo waste gate linkage? To rhythmic to be a cracked cat. Almost a solenoid-like click sound but fairly loud. Seems to be more noticeable with the windows closed, but it is not in the interior. (The driver seat has the usual clicks and snaps , but that's a separate issue).
Third issue may be a figment of my imagination, but the engine sounds as if it has a mechanical fan with a seized fan-clutch. A kind of whine that can be heard when driving. Directly related to revs. Most notable up to about 40mph where normal road noise eclipses the whine. Doesn't seem to affect performance. Shift points may be a bit delayed (high revs), but that may be imaginary as well.
