Range Rover to S550 - New Owner...S63 Bumper on S550 4Matic, etc?

Posted this in the wrong forum initially...posting again:

Hello,

I know this can be done and I have searched the forums but most of the threads are about adding a diffuser for folks with the amg package already or the full body kit.

My questions is:

I'd like to have the look of the dual exhaust (not posing as an S63) because I think it looks better. Would I just need to purchase an S63 rear bumper and it's a simple swap or is there more involved? I do have the parking sensors also so I know I would need one with that.

My list of things to do are as follows:

Dual Exhaust (S63 bumper?)
19 or 20" AMG wheels - I love the look of these. thinking 19" for a better ride.
LED Tail lights
Maybe the LED headlights? Need to find good prices for those.
LED interior lights
LED Fog lights
Video in motion (ordered)
Trunk spolier? On the fence about this.

Thinking about tinting the windows 5% all the way around today or tomorrow.

Thanks for reading and any comments/suggestions you may have.

Welcome. You'd want the aftermarket S63 facelift kit from gary@suvneer here on the forum. That will give you the S63 rear bumper, quad exhaust and the S63 AMG style front bumper with the LED fog lamps. It's a great looking kit, it's been around for years and several members have installed it. I have the rear lip spoiler from JB here on the forum. Nice piece, looks OEM and came in color.

I've run 19's and 20's and I felt very little change in ride comfort. I still have the Airmatic set to "Sport" on 20's. Actually, the Michelin Pilot Sports on the 20's ride quieter and smoother than the 19's with Contis that came with the car, and the handling is improved as well. As for wheels, I've run both OEM and the much less expensive "replica" wheels that are all over EBay and have had no issues. A full set is typically under a grand and they do hold up to time and wear (at least the ones I've owned have.)

The windows have a factory tint, but of course you can always go darker if you prefer.

Thank you.

I've been looking at pictures online of black S550's with tinted windows and I do like it and then I like the look with out also. I had 5% all the way around on my RR so I'm used to the darkness.

I was going to replace the door sills because I thought they were scratched up but the original owner (woman from FL) never took the plastic off of them. I am leaving it on for now until after winter.

I did add these below on all 4 doors. I kind of like it...It's different and people have already been asking about it.

Keep in mind with the black interior, it's going to look even darker with the factory tint, which has a mirror glaze to it.

Funny, she was treating those door sills like an old leather couch like some do. But nice that they will look brand new when you peel the plastic off.

Those logos are pretty cool.

Yeah, I just ordered a set of those for the front doors. The door sills scratch really easily. I'm on my second set.

What size tires are good for a 20" wheel? I should not go staggered since it's 4matic, correct?

Thanks again!

You can stagger on a 4Matic as long as the rolling diameters of the front and rear wheels are within 3% of each other or less. The stock fitment on 20's is 255/35/20 front and 275/35/20 rears, which have a variance of 2.04% and should be fine. For a square set up you'd want the 255/35/20 all around.

One last question. Is there a particular offset range I should stay within. I know the oem wheels are +43.

Thanks.

Remember, when you stagger you can't rotate tires. I'm assuming you knew that.

And Mike, you might want to add your reply on staggering to your signature

Thanks Jason...Yup, I knew that.

I did everything for my RR from changing brakes/rotors to removing the whole interior and running fiber optics for a multimedia system. I'm just reading through old post on here figuring out what's what in the benz world.

My video in motion is being delivered today so I'll tackle that this evening most likely which looks to be pretty quick and simple.

Love coming home seeing packages that arrived. Installed the video in motion...took about 10 minutes, also added a few goodies to the backseat..nothing special but they look good and match my trim. All I need now is a driver to chauffeur me around.

Waiting on my LED license plate lights to arrive and the clear side bumper markers.

A local wheel dealer has an oem set of 20" 5 spoke amg wheels with new tires from an S63. He's asking $2k. Is that a good deal or no?

Depends on the condition, the brand and model of tire and how much tread depth remains. Any idea or pics?. $2k would be fair for clean, unrefurbished OEM S63 wheels with OEM spec tires at 80% or more tread depth.

There are several similar looking 5 spoke wheel designs for the 221. The S63 five spoke part numbers are FRONT RIM: A 221 401 2402 REAR RIM: A 221 401 2502. They look similar to the run of the mill 20" 5 spokes that came standard on the AMG Plus 1 cars, but the S63's are considerably more aggressive and cooler looking. At the point where the spokes meet the lip, the raised portion is thinner.

^Them are those, and condition looks good. Not sure how those tires will ride. I've tried a bunch of brands and the only ones that ride well are the Michelin PS3's. $2k is fair, I'd probably offer $1500. Shouldn't need new TPMS. Yours will transfer (unless they're dead).

Also, try to find out if they look refinished. They look new, but if they have been refinsihed, they can start chipping very easy and look bad very quick. Remember, factory wheels have a baked on finish.

They are takeoffs. This shop does most of the NFL and Baseball players in the area which I have seen in person but you get used to it when there are always people there with ferraris bentleys, and rolls...a little s class isn't anything lol. I'm sure they are just take offs from one of their cars when they put aftermarket rims on and of course they don't want the oem wheels back and the shop just resells them.

It's a little odd that someone ran them long enough to require replacement tires, but the rims look perfect. But they are beautiful and my favorite OEM wheel for a 221. Snap 'em up!

Thanks.
You can get pretty aggressive on offset, I'm running 20mm spacers rear and 15mm front, for effective offsets of 23mm rear and 28mm front. They sit flush. The spacers would look great on those S63 wheels BTW.
