Definitive answer, have someone retrieve fault code(s) with MB DAS. Common problem cushion wiring at the door side is damaged from frequent entry/exit.

Same issue with mine. Driver side bottom seat no heat only heat of seat back.

Now. I've read that some dealers end up replacing the while seat bottom with a new one and some try to just fix the heating element? What is the consensus on that?

Unread about one guys dealer replacing the whole seat button which give you new leather but it didn't match the best.

Konigstiger, can the wiring near the sill be repaired, w/o replacing the seat heating element, which is quite expensive? Fault showed electrical issue, but not the sill wiring. How do I direct the mechanic to the sill issue? Thanks.

Mine is at the dealer now as we speak for the no heat on the seat bottom. Service advisor said he's not sure if they replace the whole seat or repair it.

Ok we'll, got the car back and the new seat bottom looks kinda crappy. The old seat looked much better. The new leather bottom comes with the heating element and this is the only way to get it. I asked about them putting the old
Leather back on and they can't because then you'd have the old heating element that is broken back in the car.

They can order me in another leather cover w/element but they said they don't know if it will be any better.

Any ideas here or advice?

I've done a few of those cushions in my time as a tech, it takes a lot of patience and commitment to get the leather stretched out properly. You could ask them to replace it again and have a different tech work on the car

It's unsatisfactory workmanship, period. That cover should fit exactly like the old one. They need to take another crack at it and get it right. If they can't, I'd take it to a trim shop, pay out of pocket and then ask for reimbursement from the dealer to cover your cost.

Thanks. They said they would do it again, but don't know if it will be any better. Good idea Mike. They can either try it again with the current one, or order a new leather piece again and do that one...

Here is the original seat, as you can see, the side bolsters, nice and tight.

Hard to tell from this picture, but it looks like the seat bottom isn't ventilated? Is that what you mean by crappy?

It has the holes in it.

It's a pretty good match color wise. The main difference is the orginal leather "holes" had more white inside the holes and this is more black inside the pin holes. I'm assuming another new leather cover will be the same with the coloring inside the holes. This is being very ****, but I can let that go. I just want a nice and tight seat!

new seat:

And here is regarding the seat:

I think those perforations will show white on the inner aspect with some wear. The color and grain you're stuck with but that will also improve (as far as a match) with wear. They just need to install the skin correctly.
