Cold weather question

Can you lock the car from the outside with the motor running?
Thanks.

I have never tried it......but start the car, lower the drivers window and try to lock it.

If it locks......there you go. If it won't unlock then you can simply stick you hand through the window and unlock the door and forget the idea.

Tried that the other day. Does not work but thanks for the idea. I will check with the dealer.

Basics - key activates switch on driver door’s handle; control module (CM) communicates with ignition switch (EIS); EIS transmits signal to CM; CM sends signal to wake up key; key transmits authorization code; CM sends data to EIS; EIS provides key authorization.

Doubt EIS will allow for dual authorization and two keys will cause recognition confusion - but here's an experiment, try with engine running/window open and attempt to lock with second key from outside.

Under normal circumstances, you can't lock the car while the engine running; however, there is a way to do it: Take the metal key out of the key fob. Turn the car on. Open driver's door, hit power door lock button (will lock the other three doors). Close driver's door. Using the metal key taken the key fob, lock the driver's door.

I do this from time to time in the summer when I have the dog with me. Keep him cool while I do some quick errand.

Thanks. Will try that this weekend. Much appreciated.

With motor running and all doors locked, Fob or metal key then opens drivers door?

Thanks
