Just joined the family

Well I joined all of you in the S family. Had a Range Rover Sport (which I liked), but just got rid of it and picked up a 2013 S550. We have a GL450 which we love, but I have always wanted a S Class.

Not sure if I got a good deal as I picked up a 2013 with Driver Assistance Pkg, Power Shades, Panorama Roof, Sport Package, Heated Steering Wheel.

Sticker was about $111,000 and it had 14,100 miles and ended up getting it for $58,000. So far so good. I enjoy reading all of the threads so thanks to all the members.

Welcome to the community new neighbor

What color exterior/interior? That's a great deal for such a low mileage/basicly brand new car.

Depends on the weather
Welcome. Post some pics when you get time! I did the same thing, sold my RR and picked up my S550 and never looked back.

Dark Grey with black interior. Once the snow lets up and I can get it washed I will post pics.

Cool. Yea, I can't stand this snow. It just won't leave. That dark grey is kinda rare to find with sport package. Congrats.

Forgot to add it is a 4matic also

Things I don't like so far:

1) Hate how you have to use the COMAND Center to change vent configuration for AC. Wish there was a physical button
2) Wish you could turn the AC off (not the vents blowing air, but just the AC) with a button.
3) Wish when you adjusted the temperature it would sync instead of adjusting driver side and then you have to adjust passenger side.
4) Wish you could turn some of the audio favorites off. Have about 15 programmed, but when at 15 and go forward wish it would go to #1 instead of having to go through 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20.

1. I'm sure it was done for the ergonomic design of the dashboard. Putting it in auto works wonders as all of the air seems to go to the right places, as if by magic.

2. Why would you want to do this? The auto function is very smart....and it uses sensors throughout the cabin to hit the set temperature to make sure all parts of your body are comfortable.

3. This can be set up through COMAND by setting it to "mono".

4. If you want to stick with only what your presets have programmed, then make sure that you have only programmed the channels you want....and use the steering wheel controls to scroll them. It should only go to programmed channels....and after 15 as in your example, it should go directly to 1.

Assuming above average condition and 4matic the dealer made about 8-10k off you.

So, no... You did not get a good deal imo. But that is now water under the bridge. Enjoy your new toy

Where do you get your info? According to KBB, fair dealer purchase price is $59,800 (assuming it's not certified). CPO is $66.2k.

I do have access to wholesale information you don't. I will leave it at that.

Did the OP happen to give you his VIN so you could look it up on your auction site or whatever your source might be? Also, did you speak with the dealer to see what they did to his car to get it ready for sale....such as tires, brakes, reconditioning, etc?

OP....it sounds like you did just fine with your purchase and definitely didn't get ripped off. Enjoy your ride and post pics when your car is clean.

On options - Unless a bare car wholesale pricing doesn't really care much about options. Surprised? It's a fact.

On turn around cost- you realize that your average wholesaler will factor all the things you mentioned and more into the price in about 120 seconds - right?

The only time wholesale is skewed is if the dealer has a buyer for particular car- then pricing can get stupid, but this is fairly rare.

Thanks for posting that HD. It is further proof that the OP got a decent deal on his car....and also proves the dealer likely made nowhere near $8-10k on that transaction....more like $2-4k after assuming the car needed at least tires.

You missed the point. There was pretty much one car with that color combo at that mileage and year. And I know how much the dealer is in it for. Hope this helps.

s550 Diamond white amg pano
Obviosly it depends on the car, wholesale rarely gives credit for super mint cars, and colors are always important and white always brings more. If alx has some additional info on the car great. but I doubt the dealer made 10k? but who knows. also keep in mind in Ny at least when you trade the car you save the tax on the trade amount so lets say at 50k the tax savings is around $4300.

Landers, welcome aboard. For around these parts, I think you swung yourself a pretty good deal. Condition is super important in the value equation imo. With that mileage and options and above average condition that's not much higher than what is paid by the dealers at auction.

Not big on exaggeration and hyperbole, but I would say it is in mint condition and they put brand new tires on it and just had it serviced. I really looked hard for any paint blemishes and could find none. Also I don't mind the dealer making money on me. They are a business. I simply wanted to find an S550 in excellent condition with under 20,000 miles on it for as good of a price as I could get and it seems I did baed on other listings I have seen. So far I am loving it and I seem to have no brand loyalty. These have been my last 8 cars.

Range Rover Sport
Escalade
BMW 530i
Infiniti G35
Lexus GS300
Infiniti QX4
Mercedes CLK430 Conv.
BMW330i Conv

I would say this is my favorite with the 530 being my second favorite
