CGW and ETC

I just bought these 2 new ETC (Electronic Transmission Control) and CGW ( Gateway) from dealer and plan to install them myself. Does anybody know the procedures and steps involve these installations please advise. These are for 07 S550 4matic that had flood damaged.

Youre going to have to have it towed back to the dealer to have them scn coded.

You need an in/lb torque wrench to tighten the bolts back on the valve body and use new bolts the originals are torque to yield bolts

Every etc is calibrated to its individual valve body. If the one in your car currently is dead and cannot be read you need to replace both the valve body and the etc with a pair that has been together from the factory as they are bench flown and mated for life.

Also as mentioned before, you need to take th car to th dealer for scn coding.

Lastly if you have an etc ver 1 you cannot replace just the etc - you need to replace the valve body and the etc as they are one part. Ver 2 and 3 etc can be replaced separately from th valve body but the old etc needs to be readable to transfer the config to the new one.

About th cgw - again- can you read the old cgw? If you can you might be able to save the old config in DAS and then replace the broken cgw and write the config to the new one. If the old cgw is not readable or corrupt I think you will end up at th dealer again.

On a related thought- a flood damaged s550 that had the water high enough to damage the cgw? I guess it is too late to tell you to run and not look back?

Thanks all. The CGW is bad to unreadable. The ETC I messed with it and now it just stuck in Initial startup mode and I can not pull the data. How do I find out which version do I have. The dealer I took the car to, they refused to work on it. Do you have any source that can copy data from old ETC to new one that I can send to? The water did not come up to CGW just the moisture that killed it.
If I couple the old valve body and new ETC, will it works but just not as smooth or not working at all?

Just installed the CGW today and all went well. It is not that complicated just time consuming because I have to translate from German to English in development mode.
Now my ETC is waken so I'll be able to copy data from old module to new one. Lots more reading to do to replace this module.

Copying the old etc into a new etc will require scn coding. Alternatively there are other ways to transfer the coding without scn coding, but they are more underground... if you are into this there is info out there on the subject

I just read some info on replacing it involving copy data from old to new. There is a section states Control Unit Adaptation --> Control Module Programming --> Offline Programming.. Can I do this Online instead of Offline ( I have Online access) and do SCN at last?
