Need advice - check engine light
Doing some quick research, I read the DTB related to the timing belt sprocket, etc. My engine does not fall into the range of the first scenario (worn sprocket), but does fall into one of the other scenarios (malfunctioning camshaft adjustment solenoid, or leaking camshaft adjustment solenoid).
I know I need to take it to a dealer and have them read the fault codes. My problem is that I am here in Philly for a couple of days with a packed schedule, and would much prefer to deal with this on my return to Charlotte. My naive question is this: would I be doing some major damage if I waited to get back to Charlotte (assuming I make it back the 600 miles!)? The car does not seem to drive any differently than normal.
Appreciate any input.
Thanks
MM

I thought I had checked that the gas cap was on properly, with no impact to the warning light. After the fifth person told me to check the gas cap, I opened and closed it again yesterday, and the warning disappeared! Has not come back all day today, so I am thinking it's safe to drive back to Charlotte tomorrow.
