W221 Faulty Alternator
My 09 W221 S63 alternator went bad with only 55k miles is this a common thing with these cars?...Maybe Should Be A Recall?

I had the same problem on my 2006 S at about the same time period (actually was closer to 40k miles)

Mine went out at about 90k miles

My 2007 s550 alternator went out about 6 months ago just under 70k!

Believe it was around $300 - 350 list! I own a few repair shops so i get everything at cost!

Sounds about right what I was shopping them at for...rebuilt. I opted in a new Bosch for $420 I believe.

The alternator should definitely have a longer lifespan then 6yrs but it's great to know that the cost of replacement out of pocket isn't so bad.
