S65 boost guage and tires
So I was thinking yesterday that I would really like to get a small boost guage for my S65 just to see how much and when the boost comes on. I do not want it to really obvious and ugly just for my eyes only. Anyone have and suggestions on this?
I also was thinking about putting slightly wider tires in the rear and just want to make sure I don't open up a can of worms doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Johan

Try buying a Torque Mini OBD2 reader....and download the app to your phone. It will give you instant boost readings, as well as a host of other items. You can also read and clear trouble codes. The OBD2 reader is only around $8 shipped on Ebay.
For tires on the stock rims, I believe you can go to a 285/35/R20 that should fit fine on your stock wheels and give nearly the same ride height. They will be almost 1/2 inch wider.
Make sure you cut off or hammer in the metal tab inside the fender or you will get rubbing. It is where the bumper meets the quarter panel, you will see or feel it. I had to do that with my 285/35's.

No need to bend or cut any tabs with the stock wheels. 285's will fit in there just fine.
My torque app reads vacuum pressure perfectly from the OBD2 port. Max boost seems to be right at 16 psi under full throttle....with -23 at idle. Most tuners will push max boost to 18-19 psi and remap the fuel and air ratios to get those big HP gains in the S600.
Torque is a very cheap and effective way to monitor tons of different features in our cars....with lots of customizations available specific to our cars on the web. There's no need to buy any gauges or do anything else.

I am going to have to pick up one of those!

S65 stock boost is 1.5 bar.

Did I buy the wrong one ? You any idea which blue tooth reader reliably works with W221 to give this data?
Thanks

It's not a big deal...more just to know that you're turbos are working properly or if you are tuned, you can monitor, etc. Many things can contribute to low boost, but if you can monitor it and you see it's low, you know there is a problem somewhere...no biggie to have one, I doubt most people do.

BTW, do you have an LSD on your S65? Mine is quite traction limited with only one rear driven wheel

I hit 17.5 psi of boost today. At least that's what my Torque Pro was reading. Been using Sams 93 Octane gas since I bought the car....which I know is not top tier gas like Costco, Shell, Mobil, etc. But I wonder if the 93 octane will push more boost than the guys stuck with 91?
the rest of the v12tts are awesome one-wheel burnout machines interrupted only by the rear brake applied frantically by the esp to the spinning wheel in an effort to spin the other clueless wheel....
why the s/cl65 cars have no lsd- is a mystery to me
