Shuddering During take off? Is there a driveshaft flex disc in the w221?
Ok guys I'm experiencing a shuddering on take off with the 2007 s550 rear wheel drive. It doesn't happen all the time but if I hit the pedal softly the car sorta bucks almost like it's not getting enough gas. I took it to the dealer of course I couldn't replicate it so the tech said that they would try to reprogram the torgque converter. They charged me two hours labor and it didn't help. They noted if the software reprogram didn't fix it to get a new torque converter. But they tech never even felt the car do it. I have been trying to do a little research and saw something about a flex disk in the drive shaft. But does the w221 have this I know the w220 does? I replaced the air filters as I thought it wasn't getting enough air. It only happens on a light take off of the vehicle.

Very typical and is usually a collapsed engine or tranny mount. The rubber cake in the drive shaft is the next suspect. Also just for kicks rotate left to right rear tires and see if it has effect.

Thanks for the reply I had the engine and tranny mounts done about 3 months ago at the dealer maybe one was defective? But you know for sure there is a flex disk on our vehicles? I think I read it might have two?

Yes,there are two Hardy "flex" disks in the driveline.
Symptom almost sounds like a polluted maf sensor..I remember to have read this very issue on this forum somewhere..
Clean the sensor with rubbing alcohol be careful not to damage, it is relatively fragile..

****update***
The two front wheels were badly bent. I couldn't believe it because I purchased the s65 forged wheels. I had to go to the dealer to see for myself and sure enough both front wheels were bent. NY roads!!! So that was the problem that felt like a transmission jerk but it was the wheels hoping at exactly the right speed and point of take off.
