Thumbs down Lifter Noise

Hey all, I bought my 2013 W221 Base a couple months ago. Since day one it's had lifter noise. It's not bad. I can't hear it inside the car, but it's audible outside the car.

Is this normal? Do these TT V8's normally have a little lifter noise? I came from a 2002 Infiniti Q45 Sport and that V8 is dead silent.

Thanks in advance.

(I'm ****ing loving this car, BTW. )

Not sure on the TTV8 but on the NA car and both the 5 liter and 4.3 liter in my 220s had a relay that clicked and sounded like lifter noise but was just normal operation. It's up high on the engine back near the firewall on the driver's side.

They clatter. Drive them hard periodically to blow carbon deposits off. Otherwise they will knock when cold. Chevron techron is the your friend too

Thanks.

Definitely not a relay. It's 100% lifter noise. I bought it with 14,800 miles on it. Single owner 24 month lease return from Beverly Hills. It has 21 months left on the original factory warranty. So new it's only had it's first scheduled maintenance. Everything on it is flawless. Can't tell it's used except for the mileage.

And like I said, the lifter noise isn't bad. I've heard cars sound like this new off the lot. I'm just wondering if it's normal for this car?

Great point about carbon blow off. But I don't think there's enough miles on it yet to warrant a fuel additive. But not a bad idea. Can't hurt doing one bottle on a full tank.

I'd Deep Creep it if I even knew where the throttle body was. There's so much damn plumbing in this thing!

Since you said it is still under factory warranty, just let the dealer fix the problem.
