Surface scratches in my paint
hello everyone,
Well it finally happened, I went to a local happy hours spot yesterday and parked as far away as I could and there were no other cars anywhere near me.... Well what do you think happened...
well the parking lot was loaded when I left and someone had scratched my driver's side rear door down to the white underneath. Needless to say I was PISSED and looking for someone to vent on, but there was no one in site. The car parked next to me could have done it so I was just mad as hell.
Question: can any suggest how I might remove these scratches.. I was thinking of rubbing compound might do the trick, but not sure which product would be best to use.... I don't have pictures to post yet, but I will be this weekend...

Post some pictures when you can so we can see how bad the scratches are. Typically a good detail shop that can do a polish, clay bar, and wax will do some good. It also depends on how deep the scratches are of course.

Rule of thumb is if you can put your nail in it, it's a done deal. If it's fairly smooth, you might be able to wet sand it out or use a fairly aggressive compound. Pictures would help us to help you.

If its light enough you can use a compound solution/ polish/ then wax to get it out.

Mr Officer, and everyone else, My wife and I were out for early dinner and I parked as far away as I could. there were no cars near me when I parked but the lots were packed when we were ready to leave. Also I didn't take two spots.... I'll post some pictures latterly today...

I have a Magnetite black car.
Two scratches that looked white were just clear coat deep.
You can tell this if they blend away when wet.
If so, it's pretty simple to touch up with clear coat, wet sand and buff out with compound.
