If anyone remotely cares, via PM today I reached an understanding with ******* with respect to promotion of the group buy. They agreed to add a disclaimer to their post(s) when offering the group buy, and I agreed to stop challenging them on the voracity of their claims, since the disclaimer would eliminate any confusion amongst the forum members.
It appears that your other ball has gone numb too.

After all the back and forth and various iterations of *******s promotional posts I noticed this device referred to as both Apple Car Play and Nav Tools CarPlay. Went to their web site and had a chat with a sales rep. This is not Car Play but a mirroring device. On line chat below:

Look at your promotional thread. It reads as follows:
The video below shows Mercedes-Benz 2016 C Class with built in CarPlay.
Nav Tool CarPlay unit currently in development is expected to operate in identical fashion.
This is what caught my eye and prompted me to go to your web site.
Either poor wording, or again being deceptive.

You missed my point. Your opening line refers to this module/interface as Apple CarPlay. You then refer to it as Nav Tool CarPlay as I cited. Whether it is the same or not, it raises the question are they two different items. i don't want to teach you how to write a promo, but yours is badly worded at best, deceptive at worst.

I don't think they have or will have a CarPlay module in the forseeable future and based on my interactions with them I'm not even sure they actually understand the difference between CarPlay and a cell phone screen mirror.

1) What additional hardware will it require for the W221 installation?
A) an additional microphone? I saw some reference for this in the group buy thread.
B) an add on joystick for input? Saw this too but maybe in reference to another model.
2) I'm assuming the implementation uses a module that will intercept the video signal going to the comand screen and use the up/ down movement of the comand knob to toggle between Apple car play/ normal Mercedes function.
It will also have its own iPhone interface including a lightning cable.
It will also interface with the sound system, and may include its own da converter since the lightning cable interface has no analog signal.
This would also replace the crappy iPhone integration now offered by Mercedes.
Please discuss.

Yes, that's true. I received a PM asking if I would sign a non disclosure in order to see a demo (?) and asked if I would be an "ambassador" for the product. I declined both offers.
I did suggest that they simply post the demo online however they claim they are prohibited by Apple from showing the product because it contains a beta Apple IOS that cannot be released publicly.
In an effort to maintain civility in the forum I won't opine on the plausibility of that scenario. I do think $600 is a reasonable price for an Apple certified CarPlay retrofit module. I'm not sure these are the guys who can develop one and bring it to market but time will tell.

I just want to tell the forum that I now have a working CarPlay module as well. I built it in my garage. It's Top Secret. I could show it to you, but then I'd have to kill you. My CarPlay module works exactly like the factory unit, except mine also dispenses Skittles.

Well I totally have one and it's completely real and everything but due to special magic lucky reasons I cannot show it to you now. It works exactly like the one in the Mercedes CarPlay video except there's an extra icon on mine called "Skittles".

why does ******* delete his post. obviously there is something to hide which makes the whole carplay or mirror device they so call have look alot more suspicious. im the one who originally asked ******* to post a video of it being used in a s class. all i recieved back was a bunch bs. mike got on and was curious as well and just wanted some manuals and see it as well. But still these people are full of ****. this is a scam or way for them to get money to build a product they dont already have. so ******* stop your bs. my phone number isnt posted so you cant call or text me some bs.

^^I thought of that too. These guys do seem to have a legit website and they've been around since 2007/2008 but I agree this whole CarPlay thing is really strange. I don't understand the rush to get buzz started now when the product won't launch until March at the earliest. Plus I have to believe that fake admin text came from them somehow.
