How to use emergency mechanical key - Video - may also apply to other models
This is just an information post.
I went to test the mechanical key on my car the other day and could not seem to make it work. Had a dig through the handbook but all it said was "turn key" "pull handle quickly", not very useful as I tried it and still nothing.
Then had a dig through the forums and videos on the internet, all sorts of odd claims about pulling handle three times and all sorts of stuff.
It turns out it's very straight forward and the handbook is somewhat unclear.
To Unlock:
- Insert key
- Turn counter-clockwise
- Pull handle to the end of it's normal travel then pull harder, the handle will come out further and move the locking knob up.
- Pull door handle again to open.
Refer to attached video.
To Re-lock:
I hope someone finds this useful.
Cheers.

To Re-lock:
- Open rear door with the inside handle
- Close front door (make sure mechanical key and fob are not in the car)
- Push locking knob down on front door
- Push locking knob down on rear door and close the door
Please note: On my car it was very easy to unlock but maby some cars where the key has never been used the mechanism may be a bit stuck and require more force the first time.
I do not condone using brute force as if it does not want to work there is most likely a problem with the lock assembly and needs to be looked at.- Close front door (make sure mechanical key and fob are not in the car)
- Push locking knob down on front door
- Push locking knob down on rear door and close the door
