Absolutely - will definitely get the oil seals and o-rings from the dealership especially since they seem to be available separately - thanks for the advice on buying extras. I found the following part numbers through
https://partsouq.com/en/catalog/genu...%24WiVICgoB%24
under Air Cleaner And Engine Charging 4th diagram.
O-ring seal for coolant return pipe from turbo charger – A 028 997 7948
Oil return pipe flange seal from turbo charger – A 279 187 0080
I've asked my local dealership to have a look for these. Do they match the parts you ordered?

Yes those are the same parts I used, they were about $3 each, I bought 4 o-rings and 2 gaskets/flange seals. Good luck with your project - take your time and don't drop anything inside any of the openings :-). BTW, 2 years later there are no leaks, original bottom seals are still holding up well.

I also did my DS seals on the top of the turbo at 119K miles. Others are all still original. Had a very small weep. Took me a while but definitely do-able hardest part is getting the new o-ring on the line in the tight space. Had it at the dealer for tires and of course they wanted to pull the engine! I did the plugs at the same time since the coil pack needs to come out and the plugs had close to 60K miles on them.

OK - managed to fit the new O-rings on Saturday. I had changed the spark plugs a year ago so the coil packs came out relatively easy. Some of those bolts holding the IC lines were tricky with that lack of access (I guess they have not been moved for 11+ years). Gave them a squirt of penetrating oil before unscrewing them and they all came out. My Torx socket for that size is a 3/8' drive so used an 8mm 1/4' drive hex socket which helped with access.
Here are the old o-rings. I cut them with when removing them (taking care not to scratch the grove). The one towards the top of the photo was the one which was weeping and has slightly more cracking than the other. This was from the ABC pump side of the engine or passenger side here in the UK. I changed the other preemptively. Installing the new o-ring was quite tricky. What worked was a coating of silicone grease on the o-ring and some concentration. I dropped it once and needed the long grappling tool to pick it out from under the turbocharger (I still have a few spare if anyone wants some).
I guess these o-rings suffer from heat soak after the engine has stopped.

Hi guys, as a result of replacing ignition coils for misfires, I decided to also service these. Questions:
1. Did you use a specific cleaner to get the black pain/ burnt oil off the turbo oil gasket?
2. I noticed the mention of o-ring lube, is any such one good enough (such as WD-40 Silicone lube?), did you use something different to clean the old o-ring off?
3. Is a brass brush safe to use here?

Any other recommendations are welcome!
Thanks,
Jorge

I did not use any cleaners for the turbo cleaning at the oil gaskets (I bought new metal oil gaskets, with so much labor may as well do so). I just scraped turbos with something flat as not to scratch the turbos too much.

And I only lubricated the o-rings with the engine coolant. It was very hard to push them in, I tried several extensions/tools etc to get the right pressure at a right spot. Maybe lubricating them with something else would help, but I did not want to risk some lubricant which could accidentally soften/destroy o-rings over time.

Good luck with your project!

Hi, I used some 'Millers Oils MILLERSIL NO. 2 Silicone High Temperature' which was left over from another job to lube the o-rings. It helped with putting the o-ring in the groove and assisted in installing the pipe back into the turbocharger housing. Hopefully it is compatible with this orange o-ring but I did not check. I was worried that I would shear the o-ring The turbocharger housing had a rough rusty surface which was very difficult to rub down.
To remove the black residue on the oil seal, I did the same as George993 and used a scraper (mine was a hard plastic scraper) to prevent scratching the sealing area.
Hope that helps and best of luck.

Never use WD40 on o rings, they will deteriorate after swelling. I use only Dow Corning 111 silicon.
