Is this a well optioned S-class?

What are things to look at for with this ride?

Yes. Nappa. Rear Seating. AMG. Distronic. Driver aids. Splitview. I don't know about some of the newer options but it seems fully optioned.

I want to own it as well. I am not really familiar with the s-class. What year should one get if looking at pre-owned S-class 2012 or 2013? Any difference between these two years?

All I can see it's missing is ABC (not necessarily a bad thing) and the Bang & Olufsen audio system, maybe the rear seat fridge. It would be considered a highly optioned S550 by normal standards.

What is ABC? Is there a DEF?....lol! Why is it bad? There are few selections on the inventory and there is one with the B&O with brown interior (really like). With regards to the engine is there a difference between a 2012 and 2013 550? I am alsl guessing all S-class has airmatic which I think I wont mind as I have it on my ML.

ABC is the upgraded suspension this has a much more compliant ride than Airmatic and keeps the car completely flat in turns. Look at some videos on Youtube if you want to see how a car handles with the system. The system is very complicated as it uses a combination of struts, springs, hydraulics, and electronics, instead of the airbags in the Airmatic cars. It is a very expensive option....and many folks have reported leaks or seeping to some of the hydraulic lines or struts, which can be a costly repair if you don't have warranty coverage. But if you have the system in your car, you certainly appreciate it. It was the precursor to the new Magic Ride available in the W222.

ALX knows of what he speaks. Once in awhile I'll be at MB service and see a sexy ABC car and remark to my SA that I want one. He has forbidden me. This is a guy who spends all day giving horrible news to unsuspecting owners, so I listen to him.

I see so it is like the dynamic handling package on a ML which I think I dont have or am I assuming it is way complicated than that. I guess I just need to ask about that option as most of the time options like these are not listed on the spec sheet online. So if there is a low milleage 2012 S-class with full option it would be a better buy than a 2013 with similar option but has a higher run on the motor then? I know the 2013 will have another year or so of factory warranty left on it so I have to factor that in with a 2012.

You need to either buy the Mercedes Extended Limited Warranty to take the coverage out to 7/75, or buy the car CPO and get the full 3 years of coverage. Can't have these with no warranty protection. I'd buy the most optioned car between the two.

Lots of misconceptions about ABC. If you find a car that has it, don't be scared of it. It's a fantastic and technologically advanced. And it's not like the system is going to automatically fail. It could last the life of the car and never have an issue. Plus, it sounds like you'd have a warranty anyway. ABC is covered by CPO and Benz extended warranties.
