S63 Intake Manifold on Back Order???

S63 Intake Manifold on Back Order???

So my dealer has had my car for a month apparently the Intake Manifold which supposedly my car needs is on Back Order with not ETA!!!!!!!!! All over a P0171 check engine code, i called mercedes usa, and they have been of no help, looks like this will be my last Mercedes Benz.

What is it with US parts availability for the 221? I just waited two weeks for a front strut. Given how often those fail I was surprised they weren't in any local inventory.

I'd try hunting down a salvage piece. It's not a wear item. I'm presuming if it isn't cracked it's okay. Warranty repair?

sucks because it most likely just needs the manifold gaskets and the breather pipe in the back of the manifold but im assuming they are just replacing the entire thing to make sure its for sure fixed.

30 total shop days for any issue or combination of issues is a lemon law trigger in most states. A used vehicle that's still under a manufacturers warranty (like CPO) can be subject to the law. Which state are you in?

Lemon law is only for original owner. Since car is cpo I assume he ain't it.

Not always. The ownership isn't as important as the manufacturer's warranty still being in force. By directly selling the second buyer a new warranty they're extending their exposure. It's not as easy a case to present but I've seen it done. (My best friend is a top lemon lawyer in Michigan. He's handled lemon everything...lemon cash registers, lemon computers, lemon boats and motorcycles, lemon TVs and appliances. If you brought him a defective ***** he'd probably do that case as well.) They can't hold his car indefinitely waiting for a part.

He does though have a duty to mitigate, and not sit on his hands. He could have the car towed to an indie, get the salvage manifold installed and then bill MB for it. Or see if MB will let him sign a release on a salvage piece with the understanding that MB cannot guarantee the part.
