W-221 Airmatic Suspension
Anyone have any factual or otherwise information on the average
lifetime/reliability of the airmatic struts?
(Changed 3 of 4 on a 2006 S-350 between 45-60 K miles; now changing
2nd of 4 on a 2010 S-550 at 55-61 K miles.)
Wondering if replacement struts will also last 50-60 K miles?

I am all original suspension. I got my car with around 32k miles on it. Currently it has 77 problem free miles knock on wood. I drive my car vary easy and the roads here are smooth so maybe those factors help. What are Arnots? IS that the company who makes the...?

There is no rhyme or reason- some last 150k miles others last 30k. It depends a lot on what kind of roads you drive mostly, how aggressive your driving style is and the phase of the moon

Thanks for member's inputs to date.
Must be the roads in Puerto Rico?
Seems strut last longer on better roads in the USA!
Roads here are rough (broken asphalt and patches) and most have man made pot holes (resurfaced roads hardly ever have a manhole even with the new road surface, depressed 2 or more inches)! Try to remember locations of depressed manholes, but with night and rain some are run over.
So far these two strut replacement are under warranty, which will run out 4/2017, but with approx. 70 K miles by then. If 50 to 60 K miles is a reasonable life expectancy for struts here, I may be OK up to 100 K miles?
At least no winter clothes needed!
Tropical
PS: The toe truck operator told me MB sent an engineer to the local dealer years ago, was given a driving tour, and concluded it was the roads?
However, never had a strut problem with 3 E class previously on same roads!
