2008 w221 s550 on 20" VIP Modular VRC-13
Hello MBW, I just picked up this w221 a few months ago so I'm new to this particular forum. I'm a SoCal resident and have been in the car scene for over 20 years. I work for VIP Modular Wheels and hope to be a helpful contribution to MBW. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
Below are photos of my car. Without a doubt, this is the biggest sedan I've ever owned. My wife calls it the boat so she named it "The Love Boat".
The only mod I've done so far are wheels since they were easily accessible through work. I was just looking to replace the factory wheels so I went with a set of 20"x9" & 20"x10.5" VRC-13's in our standard brushed aluminum w/ silver accents for an OEM + look. Since our VRC series wheels come without the PCD's drilled, normally drilled-to-order, I was able to customize a set by shaving a few millimeters off of the disk heights first and then drilling the PCD's to achieve a flush fitment at stock height. The 20"x9" fronts have a slight concave and the 20"x10.5" rears are deeper. The center bore for these wheels were at 73.1mm so hub centric rings were needed.
As for tires, I went with a meaty tire setup. I didn't want to stretched the tires or anything like that. I went with Toyo Proxes T1 Sports in 245/40/20 up front and 285/35/20 in the rear.
I love the fitment and how they look for an OEM + setup. These will be my stock replacements until I order a set of 3 piece wheels from work. Let me know what you guys think.
My future plans are to do a face lift on the front headlights, front bumper, Brabus lip spoiler, and lower it just a tad. I'm sticking with the 08 side skirts and rear bumper. I like the non-aggressive, clean and classy look of them. If anyone has a 2010 and up front bumper or a Brabus front lip spoiler for 2010 + for sale, please let me know.

I'm going to build some 21" RSV Forged RS-15's concaves with suspended spokes and step lips. RSV Forged is our sister brand luckily. Still deciding on exposed hardware or hidden hardware like in the photos.

Yeah I've heard the rears rub a few times and I believe it's coming from the inside of the tires. I've only heard it slightly rub maybe 2 or 3 times in the past two years I've have the wheels so it very minimal. I definitely would make these wheels 3mm's more aggressive the next time around.
