Then your car came with the most current disc available. If you took it to your dealer and they charged you for the update, they screwed you. They haven't released a new disc since 12/13. That was when it was Navtech. If you give me the VIN I can tell you what version came in your car and tell me what version you had installed. Your car would have come with V9 and the latest were just released and are ALL V14 (2015/16). So, you didn't need an update.

I called every month, until I finally gave up. I decided last week to call and they said that they released the new "HERE" for my car Dec 2015. Dated 2015/16 so you figure it out. Here is the latest update.

I thought you mentioned in your post above this was the latest update.

Did you actually go and look in your cars head unit to get that information? I think your car came with that version. There hasn't been an update since Dec 2012 ( 2012/13 but called 2012) it is hard for me to explain it clearly.


I don't know why these disc are dated as they are, I cant explain their reasoning or motives. They just released the disc in mid Dec 2015 and made then available for distribution for what I would call a 2016 disc. Possibly, since they obtain the information in 2015, they call it 2015, I just don't know... I wish I could give you an honest answer. I do know this, when you buy a car the information is already outdated and not current until they have done the new release with all the updates. Cars built after a certain production date always gets the most up to date information, if the disc was released in that year.

The actual maps are about 3 years behind. So if you have a disk that says 2015, then it likely hasn't received any new road updates since 2012. A road built in 2013 or 2014 will not show up on that disk. If you want more current maps, then you're better off using an app on your phone. Car nav systems are always lagging behind.

Honestly, if you don't travel on a lot of roads built in the last 5 years, it's pretty pointless to spend any money to update your car maps. And if you're concerned that the streets in your newer subdivision aren't showing on your nav screen, then you've got some other issues about not knowing how to get to your own house without a map.

Then it's time to do an update from V9 to V14. As for the last statement from DaveW68, again he is wrong. Example, a gas station on my corner changed from Chevron in Aug to Union 76 and before I updated my car it was incorrect. Now, the station shows correctly. I will say another station closed in Nov. and reopened last week and it's now a Mobil but was originally a Shell station. The icon shows as Shell, so it didn't make the update as it reopened after the disc was released. Also a new street was built just this summer with new homes and that street is on the latest update.

Go play hide and go f#ck yourself. My maps disk is from 2012 and it doesn't have some streets that were built or updated in 2009 & 2010. And I live in a populated Chicago suburb. Good for you, your subdivision, and your updated gas station for making it onto your new map. Maybe MB is finally getting with the program with their vendors. Car nav systems were built for women. Most men know where they're going or know how to use Google Maps.

First of all I only posted to allow those people with newer cars 11-14 S Class, the opportunity to know that they now have the availability to get the latest "HERE" Navigation update.


You high jacked my post with all of your, I know the answer you don't attitude, so you interjected your misinformation into my post, not once but every single time. I don't go into your post's and try to throw around information that was based on obtained knowledge, over my known knowledge. I admit when I am wrong or if I don't have the answer, but you on the other hand have no regard for other peoples posts.

As for calling my new 184K CL compared to your OLD USED 2007 out dated S600 ( that was only about 130K when new and you most likely paid 25K for it) an Acura. Really shows your lack of respect for the other members of this forum. Not to mention your filthy mouthed comments.

Thank you for your response. Albeit, that it might just be some silly icons. The difference in the updates are extensively different and if you actually use the Navigation screen, as I do as my main visual screen. Having the current updates for me is important. To some it's irrelevant but to others like the ones that have responded it is just as important. So, with that being said, I was trying to offer valid information for those who actually care. If I see a post about something that doesn't pertain to myself or I have no knowledge, I just pass the post and look for one that is relevant to me. I don't go one people's post to rain on their parade nor do I try and educate people on things I know nothing about. That was my point. I'm not trying to be mean or rude but for someone to just, out and out, act like they have all the answers ( when they clearly do not) then this is where issues like this get blown way out of proportion. The face lifted cars are still being supported with updates. I am guessing as time goes bye, that will end as well. Just as it has for the pre face lifted cars.

One last thing before I exit this thread....please point me to where I made any false statements about the nav updates for the face-lifted W221's. They do require dealer intervention....at least to purchase an access key to do an update. Most folks who own these cars just let the dealers take care of it for them when they take their cars in for service. The pre-facelift cars do not require a key....and the same disk can be used over and over again for multiple cars and not cost a cent to subsequent users.
