2013 S550 Key Fob Case Replacement
Pardon if this has been covered, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer.
I have a 2013 S550, with keyless go. I have managed to damage both of my key fob cases, but they both still function.
I'd like to buy a couple of used fobs and just swap the cases, but the only mention I've seen for anything after 2012 was a mention that it was impossible to open them up without destroying them. There are some videos showing swaps for older but similar looking keys, however it appears those were different because the whole center came out to replace the battery. On mine, you pop the little cover off the back of the fob to get to the key.

does your key have the round or triangle panic button? I just went through this myself. Round panic button keys can be opened up and guts swapped out. Triangle panic button keys cannot be opened up without breaking it... (ask me how i know)

Yeah sounds like you'll have to pay Mercedes for a new key. Another option you have is insurance. Some policies cover lost or "stolen" keys with no deductible or a reduced deductible. Have a look at your car insurance policy and check for extra coverage for keys. You may be able to make a claim which shouldn't affect your premiums and get both your keys replaced at Mercedes
