I saw the posts about using the heat gun, and then I saw this. I'm worried the heat gun with ruin the texture. I think I like this idea. Has anyone tried it?

Yes, a member did have success with it. You'll need an actual heat gun vs a blow dryer. The leather has to get really hot, but not so hot it disfigures it. There's a write up with pics here somewhere. I think NickTheGreek did it but not sure.
