Transmission hang-ups
Hi,
I have an issue with my gearbox. Sometimes it stucks in 5 gear after crusing on the highway. So when I stop at red light or similar the car barely moves. I have to put it in park and turn off and on the car to make it change gears. This happens about every 100km or so. I've had this problem for about a year or so and getting used to it..
BUT, recently the gear changes stopped being smooth, and sometimes the car get a "kick" when it changes gear, even in Comfort mode and normal throttle (no kick down). It also sounds and feels like it revs more than it has too when driving.
I had the gearbox on an overhaul and changes oil and filters, but it seem to be worse not than it was. Yesterday I had to stop the car in the middle of traffic and the gear didn't work for several minutes. I had to turn off and on the car about 7 times before it was functional as "normal" again.
I can also sometime hear a "cluck" noise from the engine room, and my guess is that something is loose somewhere..
I had it to a Mercedes workshop, but they didn't find where the noise came from, and I guess they didn't hear it as it only appear every now and then.
I had the motor mounts replaced (cost me $1500) but no change..
Anyone have a clue why my gearbox hangs and if the gearbox also could make these noises?
