Strut problem

MY2012 4Matic, noticed yesterday when I was driving around that there is a clunking sound coming from the front of my car. almost like a bad bearing. Parked the car for a while and when I push on the front end it makes a popping or slight cracking sound. Does this sound like a failing strut. I have the MB warranty so assume this would be covered just want to understand what the issue might be. Sound familiar.

There are a lot of moving parts. Nobody here can tell you what wore out without seeing it.

If you are so curious jack the car, remove the wheel and use a pry bar to check for play.

Hopefully if it's the strut your car is under the original factory warranty because if it's under CPO the struts are not covered.

I purchased the extended MB warranty before the original was up. I assume the factory warranty would cover this.

The original warranty covers most item except wear and tear, and maintenance. However, the CP ELW does not cover all of the same components. Does not matter when you buy it, there are certain items not covered and the struts are not covered. Airmatic shocks are covered. You can read the fine print of your CP warranty to see what is not covered.

This was not a CPO car. I purchased it from a broker while still covered by the factory warranty. I then purchased the extended MB warranty. Just read it and it says nothing about not covering struts.

To my knowledge there is only one MB ELW and it is the same coverage for CPO or new vehicles. The mileage and time frame varies, but the ELW policy is 9 pages and there are exclusions.
