I'm in Long Beach, CA. I was quoted yesterday, by 2 different companies(!), $160/month for my 2007 S550 base. Basic (really low) coverage with $500 deductible ($10 less, if I go with $1,000...).

My previous 2006 S350 was around $90/month. To my question, why is it so high, the agent responded with "Well, you have a performance car...". My 1st in command (that's my lady), drives a 2016 CLA250 and pays only $88, for much higher coverage (leased car).

Where did I go wrong?

A lot of what drives rates is how much it costs to fix the insured car. S550's are expensive to fix.

 

a crashed s-class is an expensive proposition.

by comparison the cla is what mb took on the dodge neon with.
