Should I buy a used 2008 S600?
http://www.springmotorsport.com/inve...-RWD-spring-TX
Hello all!
Coming from the BMW world, have a 2008 528i and yes I know with these cars they need a bit of maintenance.
I bought my car with 113,000 miles and started noticing problems at 120,000 miles. So far have spent about $5k in maintenance on the BMW.
But wanting to buy this S600 because it is pretty sweet.
They're asking about $30k with 75K miles but they said they can bring the price down a little if I find things on the car .
Just wondering what should I do and what should I expect?
I know for BMW they have the Carly App to diagnose everything wrong with the car for DIY instead of taking it to the mechanic. Wondering if there is anything like this for Mercedes?

With that mileage, if you pay over $26k, you are paying too much.

Be careful...with these cars, what you save in purchase cost is most likely going to be spent on parts and repairs on the short run. Try and get an aftermarket warranty if you can to cover that base. Or be ready to work on it yourself.

V12 TWINE TURBO 5.5
BUILT IN RAIDER
FULL PANARAMIC SUNROOF
SWADE ROOF
RECLING BACK SEAT
I know the string-based engines were more reliable. If you can find a low mileage twine turbo I say go for it.
Obviously having your raider built in makes for more convenient raiding.
Is there anything more luxurious than a swade roof? An alacantra headliner is no substitute for genuine swade.

30K is too high IMO. I paid about 26 for my '07 almost 2 years ago and it had a bit over 60k on it. As others have said, the car may not be six figures anymore, but the parts and labor sure think it still is. Be good with a wrench (and a very good diagnostic computer) or have deep pockets, they're not necessarily unreliable or anything, but everything is expensive on them.
All that being said, absolutely amazing car if you want to fly under the radar a little with a 12 second v12 TT missile that will massage your *** while you pass anything you feel like passing.

it's not real suede
its synthetic suede. there are special cleaners for it.
and i would pass on that S600. Especially if you think spending $5000 over the course a few years is a LOT. The S600 can set you back $5000 in ONE go. Look for an S550, if you must have the W221.

For the car that you get, they are phenomenal.
You are buying in to a car with a $150k USD standard, and if maintained it will continue to provide this superb ride. On thing that does not fade over time is the pier the twin V12 engines put out.
Make sure urge you get a "good" - not one a husband and wife with plenty of money in the dealer with intentions on a S550 and the husband wanted the V12!since he was sure she would like S600, as much as the 550, so why not?
You get all meaningful options standard with the exception of some wheel, and perhaps 2010 there are a la carte options, but for 2009 the designo is an option that hold Their value, as well as an iPod adapter is an option. 2010 introduced split screen so passenger could enjoy movies and the driver could enjoying the navigation.
As the the the led foot, these cars were VERY fast when they came out in 2007, and their were little that would touch them. Roll forward to 2016, you have many more better matched competitors on the road now. If you keep up with your scheduled dealer maintenance, you will have a pretty reliable car. If you buy cheap hoping for a good deal, you could get more than you bargained for. As many have started a $150k cars's maintenance does not depreciate like the car does, so proper maintenance is essential when owning on. And drive it. Don't abuse it, but drive it and envoy it. They are nothing short of a pleasure to drive.
Have a PPI performed to ensure ABC or other issues are not on the brink of failure.
With that, I have had no issues with my car that wasn't my fault in 2 1/2 years. Purchased it as a second vehicle me and my wife could enjoy on road trips, but she saw different plans.

Was looking to get a S550, but the V12 entices me.
The dealer said he was willing to lower the price if I go and check the car out. Might have to get a PPI on it to see how much I should actually be paying for it.

Ask them if they are willing to let you take the car to get it checked out, then I would do that and see what you might be getting into. You may find something that will improve your price bargaining..
