Diagnosis of tumble flap 'intake manifold'

Hi all,

Star gives me the following code:

Code
0524

Text
Diagnosis of tumble flap 'Intake manifold' : Short or open circuit in sensor lines / Mechanical fault of one actuating lever / Sensor faulty, replace sensor. (P2005)

Status

Current and stored

Would this indicate a faulty sensor and / or a mechanical flap issue?

Anyone know the part number for the sensor?

I have the same code, was it just the sensor or did you have to get an entire new intake manifold?

There is information out there on how to repair the linkage and companies that just sell the lever to fix this problem. I would think a new intake would be costly.

Just replacing the lever may work temporarily but that's not addressing the reason the lever broke. The mechanism should be moving freely and the lever breaks when it's not.

I have a Benz R 350 poor idle loss of power. Benz shop says I need a new intake manifold. I inspected the flap actuators on the front and the center main actuator was disconnected. I reconnected the linkage tried pulling the rod off but could not felt tight and Benz ran great. After about and hour of driving starts running rough. I inspect the linkage and the rod popped off the metal ball on the linkage. Thoughts:
1. The connection on the rod is weak get a replacement actuator kit pull the intake and replace.
2. Inspect the flaps and clean the intake re install.

In research I have read you may just put on the new kit but that won't work for long you have to replace intake manifold...(possibly mechanic speak for we want you money buy a new intake).

Have not worked on newer cards but used to build engines in my day of the muscle cars so I am not totally stupid. Thanks in advance guys.

When I remove the intake and as long as none of the parts are broken I should be able to clean it so it does not bind up anymore and replace the linkage correct.

To be honest, the error appeared after the engine had been idling for approx. 90+ minutes while updating some module (could have been a map/command update as I did not want to plug an external source to the car). I then proceeded to delete the error and it has not reappeared.
