What Does This Light Do?

Hey y'all! I've just purchased my newest Mercedes, a 2007 S550, and I can't seem to figure out what the inner lights do... I'm wondering if there's a bulb out and I should have it replaced or if there's another function? The car is equipped with Night View Assist so do they belong to that system?

I've attached a picture and circled what I mean..... it seems that any video I find of the car that light is never on in any of the S-Classes with those lights.... I looked at videos of Night View Assist and they explain that there are mechanisms in the headlamps that help make it work which is why I wonder if they are to do with that but they are the same size as the outer lamps which makes me wonder if they illuminate.

Thanks for the help in advance!

I think those might be the turn assist lights. If you make a turn the light will illuminate the area you're turning in to. They also activate if you activate your turn signal at low speeds

The inner headlamp bulbs are infrared emitters that are used to illuminate objects for the night vision system. Their illumination is not visible to the human eye, only to the infrared camera. If your vehicle does not have night vision, they are probably just dummy bulbs.

She sure does! So it makes sense that nothing happened when I turned the lights on :P
