Hello All,

Are there any know problems with the year 2009 for S600?
I am currently entertaining the Idea of getting a 2009 S600 since my current car is approaching its 21st birthday.

Thanks,
LLCD

You're only a year shy of getting the facelift car (2010) and not much difference in pricing at this point. You'll want a warranty of some kind as well.

What is your skill level? Things will go wrong with the car. Abc suspension, ignition coils, suspension components (bushings), various electrical glitches... do you have xentry? Things to consider...

Find a low mileage car and purchase a warranty that will cover you for as long as you'll own the car. Otherwise you will likely get crushed on repair costs. Look at this thread:

Go to post #37 for my most recent update. I currently have 41k miles on my car. There really aren't any differences between 2007 and 2009, except perhaps the availability of blind spot monitoring and lane warning after 2007.

Totally depends how good you are with a wrench or how deep your pocket book is. The old adage absolutely holds true here, if you can't afford it new, you can't afford it used. Parts will break that you have never even had on cars prior to it. I just had to replace a voltage transformer for the ignition ($400 used rebuilt part) and an ABC pulsation damper ($300 new part) and a transmission fluid flush and filter ($100 DIY). That's in the last 6 months alone, doing the labor myself.

It's also going to need idler/tensioner pulleys and feels like it's starting to need front wheel bearings, along with probably a transmission rebuild within the next 20k miles or so. It's at 80k now. Most beautiful car I've ever owned. Most expensive car to maintain I've ever owned.

They're absolutely amazing cars and don't let any of us scare you off from getting one, just know what you're getting into, the parts are priced like it's a $150,000 car, even though you can buy one for sub 30.
