I am in need of some help guys
I have my 1st Mercedes and love it but i just received this code "Check Oil Level At Next Fueling" and i wouldn't have a problem with doing so only that my car has no dip stick to check the oil. Should be a dipstick tube rear left (looking in), possibly someone removed dipstick - part # 2780101472.

Its a blue handled dipstick and you have one. I have the same car. These cars burn through oil a bit and need an occasional top off. Pull over and throw in a quart of mobile one at your next stop.

No, that is the oil dipstick, there is no tranny dipstick.

I promise you, it is the blue stick. Tranny on this car is sealed.

Pull it out and see what's on it. If it is oil and smells like gasoline - it is your oil dipstick. If it is just a plug you have a 722.9 with a filler tube. I have seen a few of those unicorns. Very very rare. |

Check oil
Yes I just got that check oil message on my 14 e550,,30k miles,, just after I was running at about 90 mph,,,is it true these v8 biturbos burn a little bit of oil? And is the dipstick at the rear drivers side or passenger side?

i get that on my wifes e350 bluetec. i think its a bad sensor or something. i just changed the oil fresh and it came up one time again. no idea.

Seems to be general that these "new" MB engines like to drink a bit of lubricant either Diesel or Gasoline...... Mine is a Diesel and gave me the same warning, 3L to top it up, after checking the whole car there is nothing to see, disconnect the hoses and are all as expected. Trying something out now, as my mechanic says this will work, adding an oil additive but using the proper oil specs. Changed all the filters and now it's just a matter of Km driven to see if it solves the problem. NEVER had an MB drinking oil like an alcoholic and i have been driving for a long time now.
If this doesn't solve the problem then i must think of a different solution, since it has only 227.000 Km on it and being a Diesel this is impossible to be reliable!!! Just for the info: i have a BMW 730D (diesel also) with 450.000Km on it and it doesn't need to be topped up between service intervals. BTW, my dipstick is in the front, but it's a Diesel.... :) |
I was getting this notification after maybe couple thousand miles after i did an oil change. So couple months ago i decided to wash my engine bay.. and after a closer look i found my reason... i had an oil leak from oil cooler and oil filter housing.
i said that with a point that check around your engine for oil spots , just in case. Its been about 2 weeks now... so far so good. Hopefully wont see that message again. just a little story. p.s. at first i did think that the engine is just burning some oil and that is fine... but things arent so simple sometimes |
