Added quad tips to my 2007 S550 W221
I finally broke down and bought my wife a 2007 S550. Before I gave it to her I decided to make a couple of modifications. One of the first things I wanted to do was change the dual exhaust tips for quad tips. I just love the quad tip look. I also love Ebay, so I went on a shopping spree ordering parts for the car.
Rear end
1) Added AMG 3D sticker to the right side of trunk - $15
2) Added painted to match truck spoiler - $88
3) New quad tips - $270
4) New quad tip diffuser - $260
5) Tip installation - $300
6) LED license plate lenses - $26
7) MB logo license plate frame - $12
I thought I could install the tips myself with the help of a friend who is a mechanic with a welder. The problem is the pipe on the back of the quad tips is straight and the output of the S550 muffler is elevated and the pipe needed to be cut and an angle pipe custom fitted to make it work. This required 3 hour at a muffler shop and cost me an extra $300.
The second problem I encountered was the new carbon fiber look diffuser was 1/2" short. It came from Taiwan, so returning it was not a good option, I decided to cut it and use bumper repair epoxy to fill in the gap and paint it. It turned out OK, but was a lot more work than it should have been and I do not have the carbon fiber look.

2015 S550
My guess is that he'll use the same old tired excuse that others have used: "But I've seen other AMG bodied S550's with that badge." Yeah, he's seen pictures of other poser's cars. Amusingly, he lined up the badge about as well as the exhaust tips are lined up. Unless of course he was going for the ricer effect, in which case he has succeeded.
I hope the OP takes off the badge and takes it back to the muffler shop to straighten out the tips to make it look respectable.

tips are not flush and the amg badge section (not the letters) looks crooked to me.
and please undo it. trust me. the folks that should be impressed by the amg moniker are the same folks that can tell from a mile away that this is not an amg.
