2011 S550 keyless remote, seat, steering & multicontour seat memory settings disapppear
Two features that I can’t get to work the way I expect them to.
KEYLESS-GO - I have a new key (two weeks old) from Mercedes that the dealer included with the sale of car Remote acts like it has a weak or dead battery. I also have a second key that does the same. Let me start with the batteries. I've checked both remote batteries and they were Panasonic (new) 3.02v and second remote was 2.94v. I've replaced both batteries with new Eveready with 3.08v. No improvements.
Problem with remotes: If I'm standing anywhere other than max (approx.) distance of 5 feet from a line of sight to the sensor on driver door handle, nothing happens. Same goes for the trunk opening, line of sight only. The red led on the remotes will light up. If I'm standing just right, I can also get the summer function of the windows and sunroof to open. Having the key in my pocket gets me nowhere. If I take the remote and hold it next to door handle when I grab the door handle to open, it will unlock, sometimes. When I drive the car and get out I have to do same routine to lock it, line of sight only. Manually locking the doors doesn't work. It seems like the key is recognized and prevents accidental locking the key inside. For the push button start to work I hold the key in my left hand near the door handle. Again, having the key in my pocket doesn't work. It's like a keyless sensor is going dead or remote key has lost it range. I have a Lexus ES with the unlock range of maybe 100ft as a comparison.
Memory settings:
Dynamic Multicontour Front Seats w/Massage: I go through all of the settings to get them perfect for my taste, and save it to the door memory settings. I press and hold the M and then press the 1 and a tone is sounded - SAVED. As long as I'm driving the massaging works great. Once the car is turned off the settings disappear. ALL of the seat settings return to a default setting. Is this normal or am I saving the settings incorrectly? Same thing with the steering wheel and seat position. Most of the time I have to manually reset them to the way I like it.
My bedside alarm clock has a battery backup to save the time in case of a power outage. So does my car have a memory backup battery that is too weak or need to be replaced that affects the seat memory settings and the keyless remote functions?
I have found an auxiliary battery part 000000004039 that resembles a motorcycle battery. Is this battery where the memory is saved or does the 2011 S550 have this battery?
This is a great car with these little quirks. Any input, comments, suggestions, will be appreciated.
