Hello guys my name is thomas i just bought the 08 s550 rwd it has about 94450 miles on it one owner and 19 service records on car fax. It runs smooth for the most part no cosmetic flaws. it does have a little knocking sound while driving it sound like it might be coming form the right side or center console its kind of intermittent but i want to get to it before it gets worse and becomes a problem. So my question is i have a independent mercedes repair shop near me and a mercedes dealer and repair shop not to far as well. i just need to know which one you guys think is should take it to for a full inspection of the vehicle too see what work needs to be done if any. i do however want them to hook the car up to the computer mercedes uses because i know it stores a lot of data that can provide feedback for the techs. any advice or comments are more then welcome i appreciate it guys
Check the oil cooler for leaks and replace the temperature control valve at the back of the engine. Knocking sound especially over smooth roads could be sway bar links. If you're not a DIYer, prepare to spend more money than you need to.
