I have a 2011 S63 with the upgraded B&O system, but unfortunately I had a speaker blow out in the front door. Mercedes wants $900 for a replacement option, but I rather not spend that much and have the same issue down the road. What options do I have?

Sound like a mostly typical MB Parts Dept. overprice. Hey, they gotta help pay for that fancy dealership. Fortunately, MB isnt the only place to find B&O components. That speaker has a part number, if you can find it, you can do some shopping around and see if you can source that "particular" speaker somewhere else. I doubt that B&O makes speakers specifically for Mercedes. They just dont build enough cars with the B&O components to justify it. I would bet lunch that speaker is one of many dozen components made by B&O and sourced to MB.
Then...there is always the used/parted out market...AKA...EBAY.

There are companies that rebuild speakers. They can replace the cone and/or the material supporting the cone usually at a cost much lower than the cost of a new speaker. Do a google search and you will find a few repair companies in your area. Properly repaired speakers will sound identical to new ones.
