Question
How reasonable (or reckless) do you think it would be to purchase a 2013 S-Class 550 without an extended warranty when (1) the vehicle has 39k miles (2) I will get all scheduled services done (3) the extended warranty quoted is 6 additional years / 60k additional miles for $4700 from a third-party company (Endurance). Looking for people with experience with third-party warranties.
Thanks!

Sounds good. The warranty in the catch here. Do most of your research on the extended warranty make sure it covers EVERYTHING. The extended warranty I had was through Assurant Solutions. Paid $5k. when then warranty was over they had done almost 12k in work. Well worth it. That warranty was no deductible too. Just a few things it covered; had 3 door handles replaced (for the touch locking and unlock), front, right suspension, brand new transmission, among other smaller things. all done at the dealership. New parts, no deductible.
My point is, you can get a good deal on the car but even after the manufacturer warranty is up. The money is well spent for a good extended warranty. Read through different threads on the forum and look for those common mentions of mileage when a certain parts tends to break down.
GOOD LUCK!!

if you are a little handy yourself, don't mind hitting the internet for parts, and have a good indi shop... no warranty needed at all
