Cd player pauses
Hi
i have a 2008 s550 and the cd player pauses on its own after it plays fine for about a minute. I restart it by using the center control knob and it resumes where it left off and then pauses again after about a minute of play.
any ideas?

After some research I narrowed down the problem to the voice control module (VCM). I bypassed the VCM with a fiber optic loop and the CD works fine. I will probably send in the unit to have it repaired as a new one runs about $2000.

You bet....I took out the VCM (about a 15 minute job), installed the fiber optic bypass, and sent the VCM to Hi-Tech Electronic Services for repair. They say it will be $200 and I won't have to have the VCM flashed by Mercedes, i.e, the unit will retain the data specific to my car. In the mean time, I can drive the car without the VCM but must have the fiber optic bypass plugged in.
