S550 gear shifter bugging out?
Long time enthusiast of the site but new member, hopefully someone can help me out here, I have a 2007 s550 automatic transmission non 4matic. Recently I ran into a problem where my gear shift lever seems to have something wrong with it, I’ll go to switch gears and it’ll only cycle into drive or reverse or neutral, once in one of the said gears it will not cycle into any other gear, I have to then turn the car off and on again to get it into another gear, noticed it at first when I reversed out of a parking space and couldn’t get it into drive. I’ve heard of people saying there’s a spring or a small plastic piece inside the lever that occasionally breaks and needs to be upgraded to an aluminum piece, but i don’t really know, does anyone know of any problems like this? Please let me know if anyone does!

Or ...intelligent servo module (ISM) may need replacement have someone pull fault codes using Xentry (MB diagnostics) if replaced Xentry will also be needed to readapt. Compatible part #s (290 in diagram):

it went on or about a week I noticed that it happened only on a cold start when I’d rev it a bit to get the engine warm after that week I haven’t had that happen anymore seems weird but it kinda fixed itself
