Fixing the front headrest angle?

Experts, you may have noticed that the newer luxury cars (at least the German ones) have very uncomfortable headrests - they are tilted forward so you can't seat straight. (Most likely done to help with some numbers with crash test dummies). Some of our W221 (like mine 2007 S600) make things worse by being very stiff/hard and having a pop-up feature which hits you at the back of the head during a crash, potentially causing some serious neck or head injury.

So it's like driving while having an ironing board pushing your head down and waiting to explode.

Has anyone fixed it yet? The obvious first step would be to remove the front headrests and disconnect the wires - has it worked for anyone or is it putting the car into some error code mode or something? Another solution would be to replace them with non-power W221 headrest - are they interchangeable and less tilted forward? Any other models which fit? Bending the posts so that the headrest is at least more straight? Any other ideas? Thanks!!!
