2007 or 2010?!?

I am happy with my 2007 with 147k miles on the clock, runs like a champ.
Here is how you check:
1. Get the VIN #.
2. Go to this website:
https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/Mercedes-Benz
3. Put VIN # in the search box and hit "Decode".
4. Scroll down until you see "Engine no."
5. Write down the first 3 digits after the M (either 272 or 273) and the last 6 digits.
6. Go to this website:
http://www.mercedesmedic.com/check-m...y-vin-m272273/
7. Scroll down to where it says:
Mercedes-Benz with the improved parts have engine serial numbers that are higher than:
- M272 Engine Serial No. 2729..30 468993
- M273 Engine Serial No. 2739..30 088611
9. If your numbers are lower, the car has the faulty parts.
10. If your numbers are higher, then you're good and the car has the better parts.
Good luck!

So you think the updated headlights and LED tails make an '07 look VERY dated? What else am I missing?
Most would not even notice the difference if they are not MB W221 enthusiasts.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I'm looking at trading my 2014 Impala LTZ for an S550. What maintenance items should I look for on something with 80 - 100k+ miles? I know I could just look at the maintenance manual and compare that with maybe KBB records. But, as I've learned with our GL, there are quirks like air shock replacements that like to fail on certain models and should be replaced.
Is there another model year that I should look at? If so, why?

I upgraded the tails to LED for 350 bucks on mine and I by far do not believe the car to look dated. MAYBE side by side, ......... but when will one look at these cars side by side?
I am hard pressed to see any W221 in my area, so far I have seen 2 on my daily commute.

You are also condraticting yourself, as the 2010 is a high miler compared to the 2007, as pointed out by the OP below.

The 2012 is considerably quicker and sportier with the tt engine and gets WAY better gas mileage but it sounds like a diesel and not as smooth as the NA V8. I just don’t like rolling on and off turbo for stop and go driving.
